A picture of Reddish

St Elizabeth's Cof E Church, Bedford Street, Reddish, SK5 6DJ. Grade 1 listed building paid for by local Mill ownwer Sir William Houldsworth. It sits across Reddish Green opposite Houldsworth Mill. Architect was Alfred Waterhouse who also Designed the National History Museum in London, Manchester town hall and many other famous buildings. Built in 1883 at a cost of £20,000 +. The stone pillars for the nave were brought by canal and hauled to the church by elephants borrowed from belle Vue Zue in Gorton. Built from Openshaw Brick
