About Southampton

Southampton has many lovely gardens right in the city centre with picnic tables, flower beds and shady walks. In the spring the rhododendrons are a lovely sight. It has The West Quay shopping centre which is extremely popular. On the second floor a variety of meals can be bought as it caters for all tastes. It has a Tudor museum, which had an ancient knot garden in the rear, and walks along the ancient walls, that still surround the inner town. It has a Maritime Museum, containing some history of the Titanic, down by the docks. The Aircraft Museum, where as the home of the spitfire Southampton excels can be found not far from Ocean Village.. You can go on the seaplane, which once worked from Hythe. There is much in this museum for Aircraft enthusiasts. It's fun to browse down East Street which contains many interesting shops, and boasts some nice restaurants lower down. The ferry goes daily from the docks to the Isle of Wight and is a very pleasant ride.
