My wife, my daughter and I stayed in Ivy Cottage, the "black and white" building on the right of the photo, part of December 2003 and January 2004 when I was doing architectural research in that region. Upside--very charming and full of character plus a ridiculously short walk across the lane to the pub! Downside--quite possibly the draftiest cottage in England, particularly as the wind was almost constantly funneled through the lane! Oh, and visitors walking up the lane to the parish church had the habit of peering into the large "shop window" in the cottage as if it were one of the tourist "attractions"--kind of amusing, actually!
