About Bembridge

The vast inviting sandy beaches of Bembridge are crammed with summer visitors, many of whom flock here annually to part-take of the delights of this enjoyable resort. Bembridge has a superb natural harbour that all summer long, is a vista of colourful sailing craft and fishing boats. A life-boat station is here, it is one of three on the island, there is also a small commercial airport.

For those interested in the history of the Island a visit to Bembridge Heritage centre is a must. Not only does it provide answers to questions but it also shows relics from ships wrecked in turbulant seas. Bembridge Windmill, built in 1700 of local stone is open to the public and is well worth seeing.

Bembridge, once depended largely on agriculture but for many years farming here has been in decline to be taken over by the demands of tourism and the need for more housing and hotels.

St.Helens lies to the north of Bembridge and shows cottages and houses in mix-match of styles. The sea-front here has a ruined tower of the 12th-century, it served as a landmark for sailors. There are fine view all around, especially over the busy harbour.

Both these delightful resorts are favoured with mile after mile of gorgeous golden sand, rock pools emerge from a receeding tide, and there is safe bathing from St. Helens and Bembridge. This is an Island that offers much to families and individual visitors, there is so much to see and explore. It is a beautiful place that drawers visitor back time and time again.
