What a pleasant combination of Gravesend pictures, Paul. I have never visited that part of Kent. Is there any noteworthy reason for its name?
Not that I know of except that in the Domesday Book it is shown as Gravesham. May be derived from Graff ham (home of the bailiff of the Lord of the Manor).
