Inner Moat and the Astor Wing

The Astor Wing was built in 1903 to accommodate guests of the castle’s new owner, William Waldorf Astor. It has a magnificent billiard room with cavernous fireplace, an intimate sitting room with wood stove and sofas and panelled corridors lined with paintings. But it’s the moated castle, gardens and boating lake on the doorstep, plus the out-of-hours access to its grounds, ancient yew maze and croquet lawn, which makes you feel like the lord of the manor.
