The public gardens here are part of the Castle grounds and the Keep takes pride of place. The steps up, about three dozen, take you to the entrance and gift shop. This is not at all wheelchair friendly, but that is the nature of castles. Also in the shot is part of Rochester Cathedral. Rochester Castle is famous for the siege in which the Rebel Barons held out against King John. The siege was broken by King John's men tunneling under the castle and burning 40 pigs, the flames burning away the props and allowing the a corner of the keep to collapse.

The Black Widow (U-475) is an old Soviet submarine lying in the River Medway off Strood/Rochester.The sub dates from the cold war era and it's designation U-475 may not have been it's original. It has been a museum boat on the Thames in London and at Folkestone before ending up here listing due to hull damage.

Hi all. I’m quite keen on taking pictures using a wide angle lens (10-22mm), which I find useful for getting more of a subject in the frame when you can’t get far away enough for a “normal” lens to get all the subject in. However, this often leads to a perspective distortion, particularly on the verticals. Personally, I don’t mind that, but other people don’t like it. These two images are the same image, the first as taken with the wide angle, the second modified in an image editor to “correct” the distortion. I’m not looking for points:- I would just be interested in people’s opinions as to which looks better:- 1 Original 2 Corrected. Thanks for any comments.
