About Cleveleys

Less bustling than its busy neighbour Blackpool, Cleveleys lies on the same 15 mile stretch of beautiful golden sands. Today, it is much expanded, and new housing a shops mask the fact that the history of the place stretches back to the Doomsday Book.

Cleveleys offers the opportunity for a quieter time, yet like Blackpool it is a traditional seaside resort with a lively promenade with seaside entertainments, amusement arcades, bars and bingo halls.

The beach is attractive, plenty of scope for sun-bathing, swimming and for children to build castles in the sand. Away from the beach there is an entertaining complex for children with mini rides and other pleasures giving endless hours of fun.

In Jubilee pleasure gardens you can have a relaxing time admiring all that is going on, or enjoy a game of tennis, take a boat out on the lake or enjoy a leisurely game of pitch and putt.

Visitors will find this a superb place for a traditional seaside family holiday, it has something for everyone from the most senior member of the family to the youngest. Shoppers will not be disappointed, being both a residential town and a resort the streets lying off the promenade are crammed with all sorts of shops, there is even a lively street market where it is fun to wander around the stalls just listening to the banter of the traders!

Cleveleys has plenty of accommodation to suit all tastes and pockets, it has clubs, bars, cafe's, restaurants and that old fashioned seaside delicacy "fish 'n' chips".

For anyone wanting to visit inland, the neighbouring town of Thornton is worth a visit - it is notable for its 70 foot high Marsh Mill, a brick tower windmill, built in 1794 and still in use until 1922. The mill was restored in the latter half of the 20th century and is open to the public.
