The name of this spacious green park situated at Darwen in Lancashire epitomises the endeavour of the local borough engineer who laid the early part of the park out from the ruins of a disused quarry. It is one of three parks in the town, the others being the more formal Whitehall Park and Sunnyhurst Woods.
Bold Venture is a triumph of old established trees, beautiful flower beds and glorious waters, giving visitors a quiet oasis in which to wander. It is also the home of the town's War Memorial which was unveiled by a local lady on the 24th of September 1921, Mrs Chadwick was the mother of three sons lost in the horror of the Ist World War.
The park has expanded considerably since it was first established, it continues to provide habitats for many species of wildlife, and is a lovely summer venue for out of doors concerts, plays and other enjoyable events.
