Flower and black background

Just used a canvas that I painted black to take any background distraction out and I think it really makes the colour pop.

It does too , I have cheated to get a black background before- a plant in the shop bloomed ( it was a cactus and the flower blooms at night and withers during the morning )and I needed a backdrop . The answer hang a black evening dress behind the plant, worked a treat and so has yours. The black really does make the flower head here stand out- nice one.

Strong, effective close-up; I use a black velvet cloth to achieve the same effect
