The gentle hills of the Wold's beyond a coast inhabited by some of England's finest nature reserves reveal a wealth of preserved buildings dotted amid famously beautiful countryside. Such a place is Claythorpe Water Mill, a beautifully preserved mill from the 18th-century. It is a fitting centre-piece for lovely riverside gardens offering sanctuary to a rich variety of ducks, geese and ornamental waterfowl. There are exotic birds including stork's and crowned cranes, and there can be an occasional sighting of red legged partridge, straying from nearby farmland.

This is a place where the whole family can become acquainted with natures rich bounty whilst enjoying a good day out. Apart from the hundred's of birds wandering around, there is a lovely millpond, a fairy tale wooded area for picnics, a Bygone area and Ye Olde Bakery. This is a place that has been thoughtfully put together to entertain everyone, it adds a little bit of magic to an otherwise mundane world. It does have the usual gift shop and a place where you can purchase 'home-made' goodies, but otherwise it is mostly an undisturbed haven of tranquillity away from a hurried world.
