a Seaside Town in the county of Lincolnshire

About Cleethorpes

Cleethorpes, is a warmly welcoming coastal resort in an area renowned for Trawlers and day trippers. It lies on a shore-line that was once known for its inhospitable reputation, but nothing of this is true of Cleethorpes, for this is a vibrant modern resort town with facilities to rival those of any other traditional seaside town.

The sea goes out for almost a mile leaving behind lovely firm sands, ideal for sunbathing or for enthusiastic "mini builders" to try their hand at putting up a sand castle! Children can also enjoy donkey rides, Punch and Judy, a beach side paddling pool and a fun fair. There is a Pier which was built in 1872, this offers many diverse attractions including a night club in what was once the old pavilion.

An attractive boating lake offers pleasure for all the family, and there is the very latest in leisure facilities. Cleethorpes has a Theme Park, Laser Quest and an indoor Leisure Centre.

For those who love soaking up the atmosphere on a lively stroll, where better than the flower-filled promenade where you can walk in comfort whilst watching the distant sea going activities of a mixture of colourful boats.

A short distance away from the seafront, Cleethorpes has a pleasant High Street thronged with a good selection of shops where you can find everything from a bucket and spade to a slap-up meal.

To enjoy the area's wildlife, take a trip around the mouth of the Humber estuary, here amongst reeded banks many birds find a haven. The Discovery Centre on the estuary is a good place to start, it has a relaxing atmosphere and is informative.

One mile inland visitors will find Old Clee, here hidden amongst the suburbs you can see a most picturesque church of Norman origin. It stands serenely in a tree lined churchyards surrounded by faded headstones from centuries past.

At nearby Grimsby, once famous for its mighty fishing fleet, you can explore the town's maritime heritage at the interesting Fishing Heritage Centre. Here you can learn all about fishing from the great trawlers that sailed from the port, smokeries and the life and times of the town. This is a place for all ages, it offers a great experience and is not to be missed!

One of the loveliest sights of Cleethorpes is at night when the front is lit up with thousands of illuminated lamps, this dazzling scene is mirrored by the lights of shipping making its way past the flashing light of Spurn Head.

With a wide range of accommodation to suit all tastes, Cleethorpes offers fun, sand and sea, and attractions for everyone.
