The Cloisters Crowland Abbey

Crowland Abbey in the village of Crowland, Lincolnshire dates from the 8th century and parts of it have survived as Crowland Parish Church. The spelling discrepancy is rumoured to be the mistake of a medievel monk. The story goes that St Guthlac chose Crowland, which was no more than an Island rising out of the surrounding fens, as the site for a hermits cell. Guthlac came to Crowland on St Bartholomews day 699 AD so he dedicated it to him.

Very cool shot, Alan, a lot of depth. I appreciate the history too.
