The Usher Gallery, Lincoln, was founded by James Ward Usher, a local jeweller and watch maker who over a period of around 30 years built up a fantastic collection which was bequeathed to the City of Lincoln on the understanding that it would form the basis for a museum and art gallery that would bear his name. The Gallery was officially opened on the 25th May, 1927 by the Prince of Wales. Now the gallery, together with the recently opened £12.5m museum, forms part of The Collection.
