The Anglican parish church at West Halton is dedicated to St. Ethelreda. It dates from 1695 and was built as a replacement, and incorporates some of the masonry from, an earlier larger church which was destroyed by fire in 1862. Christianity in the area goes back a long way, St. Paulinus converted some of the local Anglo-Saxons to Christianity and a religious house was in existence here as early as the beginning of the eighth century. The church underwent restoration in 1840. Image cannot be loaded
