High Street St Martin's

Stamford has two High Streets. Stamford High Street proper runs roughly parallel to the River Welland along a ridge on its North bank, and is these days a traffic-free shopping street. What you see here is the High Street of St Martin's parish, South of the river. For centuries this was the Great North Road - the principal route from London to York and Scotland.
