a Museum in the town of Cockley Cley, in the county of Norfolk

About Iceni Village & Museum

This lovely museum hidden in lush Breckland countryside is set to delight and intrigue visitors of all ages. The atmospheric village is a faithful reconstruction of the type of place inhabited by the Iceni tribe headed by Queen Boadicea shortly before Britain was invaded by the Romans. Indeed, the historic landscape on which the museum sits is thought to have been occupied by a settlement at the time of Christ.

The museum has an emphasis on social history, weapons and war. It offers enjoyable nature trails to follow and amongst the range of buildings to explore there is an authentic chariot house, a long house, watch towers, a drawbridge and a snake pit. There is also a pretty 7th-century church and a delightful Elizabethan cottage.

Cockley Cley is an attractive village with a wealth of pretty cottages and traditional farm building.

The Iceni Village and Museum is open from April to October. There is ample car parking, a restaurant and a gift shop.
