About Oulton

Oulton Broad lies on a flat, lush plateau crossed by the River Waveney. The broads are a world of their own, they have a charming surrealism, and at times you can be forgiven for thinking sails glide through farms and over fields, for the broads offer a Norfolk landscape unequalled by any other.

Leading off Oulton Dyke, Oulton Broad is highly picturesque and is extremely popular for all boating pursuits, including power-boat racing. There is ample mooring on the east side where you will also find the yacht station. Its easy access to the sandy beaches of Lowestoft, with its shops, gardens and museums, makes Oulton an exciting destination for people of all ages and all tastes.

Here, beneath a setting sun there could be no better way of spending a summer evening than to watch the spectacle of colourful boats racing full pelt, throwing up clouds of spray towards the misty sky. Or, if sailing is not for you, why not relax with a rod to try to tempt a fish or two!

The town is attractive with a delightful mixture of buildings, including timber-frame black and white, it is pleasant for taking a stroll, and The Boulevard is where you can hire a boat or book a trip on the Waveney.
