THE Mansfield Feather

Wikipedia describes “A Spire for Mansfield” as a 43ft polished stainless-steel sculpture unveiled in 2007. It symbolizes the legacy of the local mining industry, the canaries (used to check for methane), the trees of Sherwood Forest and Mansfield’s engineering industry. The feathers are designed to catch the breeze like the trees of the forest and reflect the light and show the trees that surround it.
