I did military service on Winthorpe aerodrome in 1948. Back then, it was in Lincolnshire. Now, all your pictures say that Winthorpe is in Nottinghamshire. Has Winthorpe crossed the County boundaries since then? Regards, John Turner, NZ.
Winthorpe is a village located in Nottinghamshire, England, located 2 miles northeast of Newark-on-Trent Nottinghamshire. The population at the 2011 census was 650. The name is probably from old English wynne þrop, hamlet of joy. Wikipedia
Winthorpe is a small village in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north from Skegness (also from Wikipedia). I couldn't find a map that clearly showed the County boundaries. Perhaps there are two Winthorpe villages, - I certainly lived in one of them!! What do you think Barbara?
