Farmoor Reservoir

Farmoor is a small modern village that was developed in the early twentieth century and took its name from Farmoor Common which was then an open field. The village nestles under the banks of Farmoor Reservoir where there is a four-mile walk around the lake which offers views of the water, woodland paths, Thames riverside meadows, and nature reserves. The reservoir is also one of the top birdwatching venues in Oxfordshire and offers a combination of open reservoir, woodland, and riverside wetlands and meadows which attract a great variety of birds. Oxford Sailing Club runs dinghy and windsurfing racing and training events and the Oxford and District School Sailing Association provides sailing experience and training for young people and schools in the area.
