The White Mark on Watlington Hill

The White Mark was carved into the chalk of Watlington Hill in 1764 to give the illusion of a spire on the parish church when viewed from the house of the local squire. Unfortunately, the view from the house towards the hill is now largely obscured by trees, so the view here is from the hill towards the town centre.

Lovely shot Edward of this fascinating local landmark. I've now created a listing for Watlington Hill and moved some of the pictures into it.
