A period chalk stone cottage in Woolstone

Woolstone is a charming litle village at the foot of the Berkshire Downs and overshadowed by the prancing White Horse on White Horse Hill. It is an attractive little village with several thatched cottages, many with chalk walls. Through the centre of the village the lane is dark and cool with overhanging trees and the sound of a brook which rises at the foot of White Horse Hill which passes under the road to the sound of a nearby waterfall. This unusual three-storey house appears rather out-of-place in the village and is rumoured to have been built to enable the then owner to spy into his neighbour's garden after an argument! Image cannot be loaded
