Stanton Harcourt

Stanton Harcourt is 4 miles S/E of Witney and 6 Miles West of Oxford. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has a heathy population of Red Kites. On the road out of the Village is a medieval Manor that has been lived in by the same family for Centuries, and next to that is the Church, on the way out of the Village is a disused RAF airfield where most of the buildings are still standing with bunkers and pill boxes still visible. Churchill flew out from here on many occasions during the war. Stanton Harcourt is a Chocolate box village, The Fox pub is in the middle of the village and at the entrance to the pub are the village stocks, even they have a thatched roof to them. It is an absolute picture and well worth a visit. Most of the information gathered here was with the help of a very friendly local Police Officer we met while walking around the Village.
