Welcome to England's other Lake District. Here, centred around an attractive market town with a history reaching down the centuries to the time the Saxon's ruled the Kingdom lies a fascinating spread of sparkling lakes with an abundance of bird-life, good fishing and excellent boating facilities. The Llangollen Canal flows through the town and the storey of this and the seven lakes is told in the visitors centre.

Ellesmere, has a lovely 'holiday' atmosphere which gives it an 'away from it all' feel. A short stroll away from the lakes takes you through a picturesque market town full of appealing properties covering from Tudor times to the present day. There is a good choice of shops and a pleasant selection of hotel accommodation in the region. With nice riverside inns, this is an ideal place to relax and spend a day boating on the lakes, or enjoy a longer holiday exploring the charms of the Llangollen Canal.

Places to visit include: the River Dee, the Shropshire Union Canal, Whitchurch and the historic town of Shrewsbury.
