Messing About On The Water

A quiet waterway suddenly comes to life as a group paddle their way along the River Wey Navigation, I do not think the chaps fishing further along the water's edge would be too pleased. Image cannot be loaded
Is This My Good Side?

With the M25 to one side , a local road going over the field supported by a massive concrete structure and the River Wey Navigation on the other side the field here is home to a number of horses. Judging by the large bales of hay/straw they are not going hungry. Here is one of the less shy residents. Image cannot be loaded
River Wey Navigation

Taken from a bridge over the Navigation, here there are moorings, a boat club, boat hire and boat trips. If one was to look behind you could see a place for narrow boats needing major services. Image cannot be loaded
Tied in Knots

A moored boat on the River Wey Navigation, which at this point runs parallel with the M25 less than 100 yards away, is lashed by whatever knot that it is - looks a tangle to me. Image cannot be loaded
The Tunnel

The Narrow Boat hospital is here on the River Wey Navigation with some boats blocked up on land , some in the water and in this case protected by a polytunnel and in the past I have seen them suspended in the air by a crane lift. Image cannot be loaded
The Old Fire Station at Byfleet in Surrey
© Alan Whitehead (view gallery)
Built in 1885 as Brooklands Fire Station and operated by volunteer fire fighters, this historic building in Byfleet, Surrey has now sadly fallen into disuse. Its a shame that such a piece of period architecture is no longer considered viable, but if you want or need such a property, it is up for sale. Image cannot be loaded
