Guaurding the Abbey

The first thing one sees when visiting Waverley Abbey from the small car park is this relic from a more recent turbulent time. This is just one of a couple of these pill boxes, the other one looked quite a size. One wonders just how many of these defences are still dotted around our countryside.

I bet there are hundreds of them still around growing grass and trees Vince. I like the view through the barbed wire fence.
