SPLASH !!!!

Don't worry, no has fallen in the water, this area is known as the Splash. It is where River Lane from Fetcham into Leatherhead crosses the River Mole and is an area where the Mole spreads it's feet when in flood. Not sure why it is known as the "Splash" , but according to the Francis Frith website it could be that in days gone by when it was a ford, the horses would make a splash going through the water. Another suggestion on the Francis Frith site is that it could be where a bomb fell during the war with the obvious result.
