About Harden

Harden lies in the famous countryside area between Cullingworth and Bingley surrounded by rivers and meadows. It is a favoured commuter base for those working in nearby Bradford.

Visitors to the region find plenty to excite them, particularly the crystal clear waters of the Harden Beck foaming over massive moss covered boulders between banks covered in brightest of green ferns, this forms the picturesque Harden Waterfall. The countryside in these parts is stunning, it has vast wooded areas providing interesting walks for nature lovers and birders. It is a good touring region which is within easy reach of Ilkley and spectacular Rombalds Moor. Apart from this, there are a host of other attractive villages and market towns bordering the close-by Pennine Way.

A local tourist attraction is the delightful Keighley and Worth Valley Heritage Line, this takes visitors on a scenic rail journey from Keighley, Thwaites, and on towards the delightful market town of Haworth where a museum tells the story of the region and its people.

Amongst the interest in Harden is the Malt Shovel Inn, a gorgeous building of 16th-century origin offering unique Yorkshire hospitality, good food, ale and wine. There are many other attractive buildings in the village.

A few miles further north lies the wilderness of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, an area dominated by drystone walls, solid Yorkshire farmhouses and cottages in isolated places. Here there are rich green valley's, overlooked by brooding fells.

Harden makes a pleasant place to stay for a romantic weekend, or as a base from which to explore the lovely landscape of the Yorkshire countryside.
