Dean Clough Mills, Halifax

Dean Clough Mills built between 1840 and 1869 was one of the largest carpet factories in the country being over half a mile long. It closed in 1983 and later developed for a number of diverse activities.

The Town Hall in Halifax was built in the early 1860s and was opened by the Prince of Wales on the 4th August 1863. The designer was Charles Barry who was the designer of the Houses of Parliament. The tower is 180ft tall and has a multitude of sculptures.

Shibden Valley outside of Halifax, Yorkshire, has not changed at all since I was last there in 1973. Amazing, and nice to know that 'greenbelt' really is sacred in the UK.
