About Rous Lench

This lovely village takes it name from the Rouses, a local family, who in the 19th-century built most of the attractive houses surrounding the tree lined village green. The village stands in unrivalled countryside, studded with other little villages and edged with old woodlands which enhance the landscape with a variety of colour at each changing season. Here you will find an old manor house and although it is private property, you can catch a glimpse of its famous yew garden which was established over three hundred years ago. At the Little Court there is a thriving nursery which specialises in the distribution of colourful garden and patio plants.

Leading from the main road there is access to Radford via what was once the Worcester to Stratford coach road. Radford has a lovely old watermill, a public house and a scattering of beautiful black and white thatched cottages. The name Radford is taken from the red marl coloured water of the brook running through the village.

All around there are apple orchards and fields full of fruit trees, it is a scene of timeless beauty, a serene mixture of cottages, church, imposing country manor and here and there is a glimpse of that rarity from the past, a bright red telephone box. Known mostly as 'The Lenches' these villages are on a popular tourist trail for visitors to the area. Within easy driving distance lies Coughton Court which was central to the Gunpowder Plot and historic Ragley Hall, 17th-century home of the Marquess and Marchioness of Hertford.
