A relief of King John, Worcester

This relief of King John (1166-1216) is executed in black-pigmented ciment fondu and set in buff-coloured plaster in Copenhagen Street, Worcester. The crowned figure is mounted on a prancing horse and turns toward his right hand upon which is perched a falcon. The horse and rider are framed by a curved representation of forest foliage. King John’s tomb is in the chancel of Worcester Cathedral. The sculptor is Anita Lafford.
