India Mill Chimney, Darwen, Lancashire. The chimney stands at 300 feet high & was the brainchild of Eccles Shorrock, the chimney was based on the venetian campanile, the original of which fell down in 1902 and a replica was built in 1912,(Venice Italy),.The base of India Mill Chimney,(a certain enthusiast, namely"our Fred" called this chimney, the biggest and most beautiful chimney in the whole of great britain), is a block of stone and was quarried near Cadshaw Bridge, which required 35 horses to move it.
