1.6 miles of FEAR.

This shot was taken on my journey through the Harecastle Tunnel. Because I suffer from the fear of being buried alive I never feel happy going through it! If you look closely you can see the tunnel roof and sides illuminated by the headlight at the bows ( This shot taken with flash ). It is not easy to keep a 60ft long boat weighing some 18 tons from hitting the side walls. It takes about 40 minutes to get through. The spots on the roof of my boat are from the water that drips from the tunnel ceiling. There were over 8 million bricks used to line this tunnel !

A shot and a half Patrick,I can imagine the scary factor but I guess you have no choice. In such a long tunnel can the engine be used ( fumes ) or is it I seem to remember like I once saw on a Fred Dibnah programme done by laying on the roof of the boat and walking the ceiling of the tunnel? Interesting stuff!!
