Bishops Palace Bishop Auckland

Auckland Castle (Bishops Palace) in the town of Bishop Auckland which is under excervation and redevelopment as part of the regeneration of the town. The Castle was the former home of the Bishops of Durham for 900 years until it was purchased by the Elevern Arches charity and the philanthropists Jonathan Ruffer who is from the North East of England, the castle is due to re-open in 2019 The photograph is taken from the newly opened Auckland Tower also part of the regeneration of Bishop Auckland. The tower is where you plan your visit and purchase tickets to museums, galleries and the castle in Bishop Auckland and surrounding areas. The tower is also a viewing platform from which you are able to see the town and also further afield.
