Worcester Severn Bridge with canal narrowboat

Designed by John Gwynn, a Shrewsbury architect, it was completed in 1781. By the start of the 20th century, it was clear that the bridge could no longer cope with increased levels of traffic, so, on the 24th April 1931, full reconstruction and widening of the bridge began which was completed on 28 October 1932. The narrowboat has probably joined the river at Diglis lock from the Worcester and Birmingham canal.
