St Mildred's Church (The Little Church in the Field)

St Mildred's Church (Also known as the Little Church in the Field) is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The saint who this pretty Church is named for was born around 660 and succeeded her mother as Abbess of Minster Abbey, Thanet. She held this position for 30 years and played a prominent role in the spiritual and cultural life of the population. Following her death in 725 she was proclaimed a saint. The Church was rebuilt in the 13th Century with its tower added in the 15th Century.
