St Leonard's Church

Before the 19th century the parish was known as Horningsheath (or Horningsherth). The tower, with its croqueted pinnacles was built in the early 14th centuty and subsequently updated 400 years later in 1703. The church stands at the gates of Ickworth Park, it is often ignored by the day tripper in favour of the romance of Ickworth House. The whole church was over-restored in 1818 by the owners of Ickworth House and work continued throughout the 19th century to enhance the Eastern entrance.
