Greensted, inside St Andrew's Church

This is the oldest wooden church in England (9th-10th centuries, some beams are of 6th-7th centuries) and claims to be one of the oldest surviving wooden structures in Europe. Relics of St Edmund, patron-saint of England, were kept here for one night on their way from London to Bury St Edmunds early in 11th cent.
