Church of St Bridget, Skenfrith

St Bridget’s is an ancient church, consecrated in 1207. The massive original altar stone has five incised crosses and was hidden under the floor to save it from destruction in the Reformation of 1550-1599. The church contains artefacts that include some medieval glass, part of a medieval chancer screen, wall paintings, monuments, decorative Jacobean pews, furnishings from a 1660s re-ordering that included the font, and an Opus Anglicanum 15th century cope.
