Bewdley on Ice 2
This picture shows the famous Thomas Telford designed bridge built in 1798. The dark patches you can see under the arches are soot deposits from an Ox Roast held on the ice when the river froze solid in 1883 or 1885 (the actual date is uncertain). The last recorded freezing of the river is 1895.
