Pilot Gig Rowing at Sidmouth, Devon

Pilot Gigs are traditional wooden rowing boats, once used to take Pilots out to incoming ships and also recorded as the first shore based lifeboats. Nowadays pilot gigs are raced in competitions worldwide and on this day such a competition was taking place in Sidmouth.

That is wonderful Alan. we used to walk down over the green hill [Salcombe Hill] in your pic, it always made a good walk,
