A picture of Bassingham

The Anglican parish church at Bassingham, Lincolnshire, is dedicated to Saint Michael. Parts of the church are thought to date from the 10th century although it has been rebuilt at least twice since the Norman Conquest. Towards the end of the twelfth century the church fell down either as the result of an earthquake in 1185, an unstable building or perhaps both. The tower was rebuilt in 1782 and the church underwent a complete restoration in 1860 with the tower being again rebuilt in 1887.
