Spring Wood

Spring Wood at Whalley in Lancashire .... is a semi-natural ancient woodland, this means that there has been a woodland on the site since before 1600. Many woodlands from this period do not exist anymore as they were cleared to make way for agricultural land. Spring Wood was once owned by the monks of Whalley Abbey and was originally called Oxheywoode, which formed part of a deer park.
