Memorial, Wormhill

James Brindley was born in Tunstead in the Parish of Wormhill in 1716. He became one of the most famous civil engineers of his time. Brindley engineered much of the canal network across the country and built over 300 miles of canal, he died in 1772. The memorial is built over a natural spring and the water is piped down to the stone troughs for the working animals to drink from in recognition for all the hard work they do.
