Moated Tudor Manor, built early 16th century by Clopton Family.
John Clopton was a very wealthy man. He made his money in the wool trade. He was so wealthy that he also built nearby Long Melford Church, which is said to be one of the most extravagant Medieval Wool Churches in all of England
