The Dower House at Greys Court

The Dower House is attached to a fortified tower which would have been part of the defences of the original settlement on this site, which dates back to the 11th century. An inscription in Latin over the door of the Dower House reads 'Melius nil coelibe vita' (Nothing is better than the celibate life).
