Prince Ruperts Gateway, Leicester

Prince Ruperts Gateway, Leicester, so called because through here Prince Ruperts Royalist men chased the defeated Parliamentarians in the English Civil War where they fought a last stand among the castle walls. This is the about the only part of the old castle left. St Mary De Castro church is in the background.
