Stockport Town Hall, Greater Manchester

Stockport Town Hall " The Wedding Cake" as it is affectionally known was designed by architect Sir Alfred Brumwell Thomas, and opened by the then Prince and Princess of Wales in July 1908.It is now a grade II listed building. An imposing Italian marble entrance leads to the Edwardian Ballroom, which former poet laureate Sir John Betjeman described as "magnificent". This contains a Wurlitzer Organ, the largest of its type in Britain. Organ concerts are held regulary.
