Leaf Beetle this very pretty red beetle spells disaster to Lily growers they lay clumps of orange eggs at the base of the plant and the larvae strips the entire plant. Unluckily we found this in our garden.

Ah so you have them too Barbara, I posted a photo too, not much left of my lillies now im afraid. Its called the Red Lily Beetle and it lays its eggs under the ground, you can't see them till they hatch out and have started munching the leaves.
